Days 26, 27 & 28

Well, the busy weekend helped me to keep a sort of close eye on what I ate. I didn't eat much on Saturday while we were moving things from Jackson to Muskegon and my McDonald's lunch ended up costing me all but 6 of my points for the day, by the time I got home to count everything out. Did you know that a large fry at MickeyD's is 13 points?!?! YIKES!

It wasn't all that bad of a weekend, food wise though. Yesterday was pretty easy to watch what all I ate for lunch, then a piece of cake with some ice cream for Oliver's birthday and I was done for the day. I don't usually count points on Sundays, but just try and watch what it is that I eat. Unfortunatly, that usually means that if it's a youth group Sunday (like yesterday) then I'm probably not eating whatever we were supposed to be eating for dinner with the youth group that night.

Today will be similar to the past two. The next few days will be major packing up and cleaning of things, and shlepping things to the three bedroom unit we're moving into. It's exciting and tiring just thinking about it. If the rain lets up enough today, I might be able to get some stuff moved before Rob gets home from work. Meals are the farthest thing from my mind at this point, but I'll make something to help keep me going so I don't feel sick from not eating. It's also fairly hard to NOT eat when I'm having to make lunch for Hannah and feed Caleb, too. I just have to make sure that I actually pay attention to what it is I'm actually eating. I still have a goal to reach in the next four days!

Days 24 & 25

It looks like I'm getting a bit behind in my blogging. I'm finding at the end of the day, while I'm climbing into bed at night, that I'm remembering everything that I had to do that I didn't do during that day. This blog, for example...

Okay so the past two days I've not used all of my points. I'm feeling pretty good though. I'm still feeling kind of tired, but not as much. (Part of that could be because I'm no longer menstruating...) I've not really done much of a "workout" as one would say, but I was able to take a nice long walk with the kids this morning to a yard sale. So walking at a moderate speed and pushing a dual stroller made me fairly winded by the time we reached home. It felt pretty good, and I was surprised to not feel my legs tingling like they usually do when I've done a long walk like that. I must be starting to get back into shape!

I bought a new pair of jeans a couple of days ago, and if I can drop 5 more pounds and lose about two inches of extra "baby belly" fat, then I should be able to get into them, no problem! As much as I hate having to wear a belt to keep my current jeans from falling off, I like that I'm starting to need smaller sizes! :-D

Days 22 & 23

I finally weighed in this morning...

September 23rd @ 7:55 am

BMI: 32.86
Weight: 192.5
Wii Fit Age: 25

I lost another 1.3 lbs and have only 1.5 until I've reached my 5lb goal! If I can lose the 1.5 (or more) before October 1st, I'll have BEAT my goal! :-) I'd love to tack on another pound to my goal so that I can start October at an even 190 with a goal to be 185 by Halloween.

I am starting to feel good, losing weight, even if it just a small amount to start with. I've found a number of things that I am going to try out while I'm doing this venture, too. The article I mentioned before about losing 7 pounds in 7 days, I'd like to try once I hit 190. I may try another "workout plan" from a different article (or two or three) when I lose another 5lbs. I think that in doing this, not only will I be able to keep my workout fresh and new, but I'll be able to not feel so blah about working out and not eating like I used to.

I will admit that I did not work out last week. I know that saying "I can't do that! I'm on my period right now!" is a pretty lame excuse, but until my system gets on some sort of normal schedule with less painful cramps and less lower back pain (the heating pad is my best friend those weeks!) then I just have to wait to work out. I am wondering if I had been able to do more than walk around the grocery store this last week, if I'd have lost more than 1.3lbs and could have possibly reached my goal almost two weeks early. I guess I'll never know, but will kick it back up this week (once I'm done with this blasted period!) and start workin' my tail off again! I'm thinking that even with being able to move into our new place this week, that shlepping boxes next door will probably be a great workout on it's own!

Days 19, 20 & 21

So today is starting out slowly. The kids got up and ate. I got up and finally ate. I'm trying to incorporate eggs into my breakfast choice as much as possible now, noticing that an egg sandwich kind of makes me feel more full than not...

I did not blog on Saturday or Sunday because I wasn't really home. Saturday was a "no counting" day for me. Rob and I were in Saginaw at a seminar so we picked up fairly healthy lunches at Meijer on our way out of town, but then ended up needing to pick up food for dinner while we were there, and so had a completely non-POINT-friendly items later in the day.

Sundays I'm trying to not pay attention to points, but just watch how much I do end up actually eating and snacking on while I'm at my in-laws.

Today, so far, I've had a total of 6 out of 27 POINTS leaving me wtih 21 left. I still have a week left to my weight loss goal on the Wii Fit and am planning on weighing myself again tomorrow or Wednesday. I've not bothered this week yet, because (and I'll be blunt here) well, it's just pointless to weigh yourself as a woman while on your period! Instead of showing any progress, it's going to only make me feel like I can't keep losing weight and since I'd lost 3lbs already, I'd like to keep it to at least that this week and not showing that I've gained just because I'm bloated and retaining water. It's times like these that I dispise being a woman...

Hehe...

Day 18

I found an article in an old copy of All You magazine last night that was titled "Lose 7 Pounds in 7 Days" and I think I'm going to try it. I've been going through all of my old magazines to pull out tips and tricks, recipe ideas, and other household tidbits to store in my files, but have been running across a lot of things talking about eating healthy and losing weight. Most of them are good ideas, some are great ideas, and others are just a plain waste of time. I hope to, once we've moved completely, to work some of those good and great ideas into my current weight loss program...

Today was a slow start to everything. Both kids were wide awake by 7:30 (one at 7:00, actually) and by 8:00 we had no power. Needless to say, the kids had breakfast but I had nothing. We went to the store to pick up a few things figuring we'd wait out the power outage and I did finally eat something when we got home. Surprisingly, I was not feeling too out of it for having not had anything to eat or drink since being up this morning. Add to that, I've not really had all that much to eat for lunch today, but my lunch option seemed to give me energy enough to not feel the need for any caffeine this late in the day. Maybe I'll be able to use some points to splurge for dinner and have Rob pick up a pizza at Papa Murphy's tonight. Or I bet I could use even less points with a Naked Vegetarian Burrito from Q'doba!

Day 17

I realized this morning (when I woke up a hour after I should have) that I have not worked out at all this week. It's pretty sad, actually. I think I know my reasons behind not might be more of excuses, but as of today my body has decided to make my next 5-7 days a living hell; I'm officially menstruating.

I've had issues with this since having Caleb, and one of those things is increased pain with cramps and when I get cramps I get them in the front and in my lower back. This next week for me is going to be hard to deal with, what with trying to workout when I want to workout (which is at least three days a week) and get my house packed up to move.

My breakfast was fairly decent. I had a WW breakfast sandwich, like yesterday and then a WW cookie. I've yet to eat lunch today. Rob went to pick up a special lunch for us at McDonald's and all the searching online for a low-point salad turned out to be Rob bringing me home two Fruit & Walnut Salads which are 5 points each! On that note, I did ask for a small fry as well, craving the salt, that was going to be my splurge. So here I am having not eaten anything for lunch yet and not looking forward to eating apples and grapes (which are not appetizing to me at all), plain yogurt (which tastes NASTY to me), and having to toss the candied walnuts I can't even think about eating because of my cracked tooth. Grrr...

Today is not turning out to be a good WW POINTS day for me, but if I ever decide to stop counting food points, then I need to not stop in the middle of a week and get back to it the following week. That's just silly and stupid!

Or is it what I need to seriously consider right now?

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Day 16

Well, today I tried my new peanut butter stuff I found that is zero points and the zero point fruit spread. The fruit stuff isn't so bad and would be really good on it's own with some toast or added to a bagel with cream cheese maybe. However, the peanut butter, which doesn't taste so bad in small doses, does not work for a full peanut butter and jelly sandwhich... NASTY! I ended up only eating half of a 4 point sandwhich, turning my lunch into a whole 2 points, what with the veggies I ate with my sandwhich. Apparenlty, I will be having decent snack this afternoon!

WW Meals and Snacks

We went to the store tonight and bought a bunch Weight Watchers SmartOnes breakfasts and entrees to help me make sure that I'm not only counting points for meals, but that I'm not "finishing" off Hannah's lunch or dinner and having to add to my total. These meals tend to be kind of filling, which is awesome! I also picked up some WW cookies (1 point each!) and even found some 0 point wanna be peanut butter, salad dressing, and fruit spreads to try. I'm hoping that they won't be too horrid tasting and that I can get used to the taste. I miss real peanut butter but it's so high in fat that between that and the calories, it doesn't make a difference if it's high or low in fiber; it's just not WW friendly!

I had a WW Cookies and Cream ice cream bar tonight, which was REALLY good and have been debating on weather or not to drink anything else tonight or not. I kind of like the idea of not waking up to go pee every couple of hours, so I probably won't...

Day 15

September 15th at 7:47 am
BMI: 33.08
Weight: 193.7 lbs

I've gained a while 0.4lbs in three days.

Interesting.

Guess I'll start my day off by reminding myself that I need to anticipate being a tad bloated and lethargic this in a few days. I hate working out and trying to eat less junk this time of the month, especially when my body is craving so much salt! My biggest issue is going to be not the eating less thing, but being able to workout comfortably for the next week.

Today - I must workout! I may do TaeBo again, but I almost might decide to put kids in stroller and go for a walk before it gets too hot out. Part of me just wants to get out of the house and part of me reminds myself that I have way too much to do here to try and figure out a workout schedule that includes walking outside. One of these days I'll have everything figured out and make it happen.

Organization is the key!

Breakfast cost me 4 points and lunch was 7. I used two of my weekly allowance for some WW candy today, too.

The best thing about my diet that I've learned today is that TWO Dum Dum Pops are only 1 point! YAY! I've been eyeing these suckers on my desk for a while now and I'm uber excited about being able to have one and not worry too much about it! YAY!!!

Monday, September 14, 2009

Days 13 & 14

I've decided that I'm going to try and weigh-in at least every three days, if I can. Every day is just silly when Hannah will be awake way early one day and make it impossible for me to be able to use the Wii and Balance Board at the same time on those mornings as other mornings. I've also decided that to try and stay somewhat consistant with my weighing in that I will try do it between 7 and 9 on those mornings, too.

So far today:

Breakfast:
~ Bagel w/WW Cream Cheese - 7pts
~ Diet Dr. Pepper - 0pts
Total Breakfast: 7pts

Lunch was a repeat of dinner from a few nights ago, but a bit less on the rice, so only ended up being 5 points plus another 2 for the apple slices and fruit dip that I had to go with it all. I've been drinking water, as much as I can this afternoon, but not as much as I'd like to have had drank up to this point. Dinner was a salad and a repeat of a meal from a few days ago as well. All in all 7 points. I used three of my weekly allowance (already) to have a WW ice cream bar, and might use a point or two more for some more apples or a few pretzles tonight. We'll see how I feel before Hannah goes to bed tonight...

Day 12

September 12 at 8:56am
BMI: 33.01
Weight: 193.3
Wii Fit Age: 35

So I started today off a bit later than usual, but now that I've weighed myself I can finally go have something for breakfast! YAY! My "Age" today was a bit annoying, but I did let myself get distracted by Hannah while attempting the "Steadiness Test" and that did not help things out at all! On the plus, I lost 3.1lbs since my last weigh-in a few days ago and that is always exciting news to have. "Yay me!"

So the lack of food that I'm used to eating every day is really helping me out, even though I've my days where I would most likely LOVE to be able to have a whole bag of potato chips, I know that in the long run, the green beans are much better for me! lol But who says I can't indulge every once in a while, as long as I'm not doing it all the time...

I am going to be gone for most of the afternoon and early evening, so I'm hoping to remember what all I eat and calculate it all out with my points today when I get home.

Breakfast:
~ 1 Bagel - 6pts
~ 1 Serving WW Cream Cheese - 1pt
~ Diet Dr. Pepper - 0pts
Total Breakfast: 7pts

Lunch:
~ Turkey Sandwhich - 4pts
~ Veggie Strips - 0pts
~ WW Cake -4pts
Total Lunch: 8pts

Snack:
~ Popcorn - 1pt
Total Snack: 1pt

My dinner was 9 POINTS and I just had my evening snack of a Weight Watchers ice cream bar worth 3. I used 4 of my weekly allowance for my piece of cake this afternoon with lunch, leaving me with 28 left to play with tomorrow night at youth group... I'm still not quite sure what to do about food for tomorrow's meeting, and I'd love, love, LOVE to be able to do something not so unhealthy, but there's probably not much of a chance of that, so best that I have some extra points to splurge with if need be...

Friday, September 11, 2009

Day 11

Breakfast:
~ 1 English Muffin - 2pts
~ 1 Poached Egg - 2pts

~ Salad - 0pts
~ 2tbsp Fat Free Ranch Dressing - 1pt

~ 1c Parm/Romano Rice - 5pts
~ Brocoli - 0pts
Total Dinner: 7pts

Snack:
~ WW Ice Cream Bar - 3pts
Total Snack: 3pts

Been a crazy day with crazy news from the start of it. I didn't post much, did not get a chance to weigh myself this morning, so will in the morning.

It's one of those days where now that it's the end of it, I'm realizing that I wish I had more time to do more things...

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Day 10

Today feels like it should be a busy day but I think it will be a somewhat lazy day. Rob went to the store last night and picked me up some 0 POINT foods for me to have for snacks and salads for meals and such. I'm excited about being able to eat something that will be filling but not take up all of my POINTS before I get to have a decent dinner. I'm thinking that for tomorrow night I will make a turkey breast in the crock pot. Then I'll have some turkey I can add to my salads and if I want to make a sandwhich I can do that, too. Turkey is so much better for me than peanut butter! Hehe...

Breakfast:
~ Yogurt cup - 4pts
~ 1/2 Bagel w/spray butter - 3pts
Total Breakfast: 7pts

Lunch:
~ Ham Salad Sandwhich - 5pts
~ Fresh Veggies - 0pts
Total Lunch: 5pts

~ 1c Turkey Guilli - 5pts
Total Dinner: 5pts

Snack:
~ 2 Banana Oatmeal Cookies - 2pts
~ Mini Bagel w/Butter - 3pts
Total Snack: 5pts

Day 9

I've started my day off with a fairly modest breakfast, cereal and milk, but will probably be wishing before too long that I had actually made the egg that I was wanting. Ah well, maybe for lunch...

I've been pondering the last few days how to keep doing this while I'm on vacation with my family in Florida this year. I'm sure that it won't be too bad while at my mother's, but trying to keep on track while in Orlando at a theme park is another question. I'll be sure to take my POINTS Tracker and will make it a point to try to eat as much 0 point food as I can, but I fear that it may be hard. I hate the idea of "taking a week off" while I'm down there because the last time I tried that, by the end of two months I was back to eating my normal junky crap all day and another couple of months, gaining weight again. (Part of that could be that I was pregnant with Caleb, though not all of it!)

So today I will continue to muddle through. And today, I will try not to use any of my weekely allowance toward anything that I eat!

Breakfast:
~ 1c Jumbo Krispies - 1pt
~ 1/2 c Skim Milk - 1pt
Total Breakfast: 2pts

Snack:
~ 2 Banana Oatmeal Cookies - 2pts
~ Water w/Grape single mix - 0pts
Total Snack: 2pts

Lunch:
~ 1/2 Pepperoni & Mushroom French Bread Pizza - 5pts
~ 4 Whole Canned Beats - 2pts
~ Water w/Single mix - 0pts
Total Lunch: 7pts

Workout: 8min TaeBo Workout Video - +2 POINTS

Snack:
~ 5c 94% Fat Free Microwave Popcorn - 1pt
~ 2 Banana Oatmeal Cookies - 2pts
~ 2 MaryJane Licorice Candies - 2pts
Total Snack: 5pts

Dinner:
~ 1/7 Chicken Burrtio - 4pts
~ 4 Whole Canned Beats - 2pts
Total Dinner: 6pts

It seems that I am left with 5 POINTS to play with tonight, plus the 2 POINTS I earned from my workout today. I'm not really sure what the plan is for a bedtime snack just yet, seeing as I just had dinner, but it is kind of nice to think that I can have something like ice cream again, or a couple more cookies...

Snack:
~ 1 Banana Oatmeal Cookie - 1pt
~ 1c Low Fat Ice Cream - 6pts
Total Snack: 7pts

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Day 8

I'm trying to figure this one out...

September 8th at 7:51am
BMI: 33.54
Weight: 196.4 lbs
Wii Fit Age: 28

I seem to have gained 1.1 lbs since after eating much less yesterday and counting points. Hmmm... Guess we'll see what happens throughout the rest of today and the rest of the week. I now have 5.5 lbs to lose to reach my goal in the next three weeks.

Breakfast:
~ 1/2 Bagel - 3pts
~ 1tsp Butter - 1pt
Total Breakfast: 4pts

Lunch:
~ 1/6 Chicken Burrito - 5pts
~ 20 oz Water w/Strawberry Lemonade single mix - 0pts
Total Lunch: 5pts

Snack:
~ 1/2 c Low Fat Ice Cream - 3pts
~ 5c 94% Fat Free Micro Popcorn - 1pt
~ 20oz Water/Strawberry Lemonade single mix - 0pts
Total Snack: 4pts

Dinner:
~ 1/5 Chicken Burrito -6pts
~ 1/4 Avacado - 2pts
~ Water - opts
Total Dinner: 8pts

Snack:
~ 2 Banana Oatmeal Cookies - 2pts
~ 1c Low Fat Ice Cream - 6pts
Total Snack: 8pts

I have decided to use three of my weekly allowance to have a full cup of ice cream tonight...

Monday, September 7, 2009

Day 7

Today I start counting points. I've pulled out the Weight Watchers points guides and such that I'd borrowed from my mother-in-law last winter and am starting again! I have 27 points to work with on a daily basis and there are a TON of foods out there that are considered to be "filling foods" and even more that are good-for-you 0-point foods! I may need to make another trip to the grocery store. I'll be making sure to log everything that I eat through my 27-point days as well as my weigh-ins and workout schedule.

September 7th at 8:06am
BMI: 33.35
Weight: 195.3 lbs
Wii Fit Age: 29

Breakfast:
~ 1/4 lg banana - 1pt
~ 1c Special K with 1/2c Lite Silk - 3pts
~ 1c Tropicana Pure Raspberry & Acai juice - 3pts
Total Breakfast: 7pts

Workout: 8 Minute TaeBo

Lunch:
~ 1c Powerade - 1pt
~ 1/2 Bagel with 1T peanut butter - 6pts
Total Lunch: 7pts

Snack:
~ 5c 94% Fat Free Microwave Popcorn - 1pt
Total Snack: 1pt

Dinner:
~ Small Handful Potato Chips - 2pts
~ 1/2 Hamburger - 2.5pts
~ 1/2 Bratwurst - 2.5pts
~ 1/2 Slice Fat Free Cheese - 0pts

~ 1 Small Corn on the Cob - 1pt
~ 1c Watermelon - 1pt
~ 6 Cherry Tomatoes - 0pts
~ 12oz Can Diet Coke - 0pts
Total Dinner: 10pts

There is a chance I may have ice cream before the night is over, since I still have 2pts to spare and 2 Active POINTS earned for the day. But chances are it might just be 0pts worth of air popped pop corn...

Saturday, September 5, 2009

Day 5

Today seems like a slack-off day in the world of working out and eating healthy. I guess I am still eating fairly healthy, just not working out today. I went to bed last night with a twing in my back and woke up this morning with a full blown pinch that I am attempting to nurse today in the hopes that it doesn't not end up any worse than it already is.

So I will try to drink my water and not snack so much today. I will try to be as active as my back will allow me without causing me any more pain or injury to it.

I will make it a point to do better with this whole thing next week!

Friday, September 4, 2009

Days 3 & 4

The past two days were a bit hectic around here in the mornings so I have not weighed in or really worked out much. I was able to go "swimming" with Hannah yesterday. I am hoping to have a couple of "relax" afternoons over the next couple of days and with that, up my water intake and lessen my snacking! I'm hoping that taking a short nap and maybe working on a few things for youth group and Christmas will help me with that goal...

I will update more about at least what I've eaten today before I go to bed tonight, provided I can get to the computer.

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

Day 2

September 2nd
BMI: 33.38
Weight: 195.6 lbs
Wii Fit Age: 28

Loss of 0.4 lbs leaving 4.6 lbs to lose by September 14th in order to reach my goal.

Today started out slowly for the most part. Breakfast was the whole Special K thing with blueberries and then a handful of Ritz for a snack before heating up leftovers to share with Hannah for lunch. She ate all the carrots out of the Shepherd's Pie, however, and left me with the mashed potatoes... I think, for the first time in my life, that I would have rathered the carrots!

I am hoping to get another small workout in today. Maybe instead of a 30 minute free step on the Wii, I'll try to do the Basic Step and some balance games. Next week I plan on adding some Yoga and Strength Training in my rotation. The only hope I have with that is that I can get both of my kids to take a nap at the same time and for longer than 30 minutes (for the youngest one, anyway) at a time. I am finding it harder to do anything in the way of "working out" unless they are both sleeping. Hannah tends to try and climb on the balance board with me and I'm always afraid that Caleb will end up crawling up right behind me and I'll end up stepping on him!

Well, lunch was not what I was hoping for and dinner will not be Special K in place of anything else, due to being out of the house with my mom (who's up from Florida right now). However, a plus will be being able to come home and add some swimming time with Hannah to my Fitness Log on the Wii before going to bed!

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

At the ending of a day...

I think that I've learned a downfall to dieting and working out is to just completely change everything all at once. My 30 minute step went well, but I was very light headed and tired afterward. That was something new to me. Breakfast and lunch were of the same thing with a SlimFast bar in between for a snack. After my workout to have some protiens and sugars (as it is said that is the best to do after a workout), I had a small bagel with one half having some peanut butter on it. My true downfall, however, is that I have a tendency to eat when I'm stressed out or even just bored, so I think that it has become a bad habit to just kind of always have something to eat whether I'm really hungry or not. Today proved difficult and I did have a snack after my bagel and p.b. and I did have a snack after dinner, of which started out fairly healthy (hommus on Wassa crackers) but then ended up turning back when I forgot about the snack I'd already made and grabbed a handful of Ritz Honey Butter Crackers for myself when Hannah got her snack. Oops!

On the plus, Hannah's leftover birthday cake still sits untouched by me today! YAY! :-D

So now I go to bed with thoughts of what to do to help me with all of this whole weight loss thing and what really will help me to make it happen. The goal I set today was to lose 5lbs in two weeks. Do I think it can happen? Sure. Do I think it will happen? I'm still trying to be positive about that answer, so for now I guess I'll just go get ready for bed and drink some more water...

Day 1

Here we go!

Today was probably not the best day to start this, but after finally getting home from the DHS office (supposed to have my meeting at 8:00 but didn't get in until 8:20) I was able to weigh in and do my body test using WiiFit and our Balance Board. My goal would be to weigh in before having breakfast in the mornings, so I have yet to eat. I know, I know, not smart, but it's been one crazy morning!

So here are my stats for today:

September 1st at 8:41am
BMI: 33.46
Weight: 196.0
WiiFit Age: 30

My breakfast today will be a bowl of Special K cereal with skim milk (everything portioned out) and a handful of blueberries for some flavor. I may start buying the vanilla flavored Silk to have with my Special K for a while for some flavor, seeing and berries will be going out of season and becoming much more expensive before I know it! I'm thinking that I'm going to spend the next two weeks trying the "Special K Challenge" where I will have Special K for breakfast and lunch every day for two weeks. I also have stuff for SlimFast shakes and snacks as well, to help me not to indulge in too many things that I shouldn't eat if I'm trying to lose weight steadily. I'm hoping to log what I eat every day, either way, so maybe I'll get embarassed by putting things on here more often than not of things that I probably should omit from my daily diet.

Well, I think it's time for some breakfast now. I'm hoping to get a chance to do a 30 minute step later, and maybe fit in a TaeBo 8 Minute Workout. However, that is all providing that both Hannah and Caleb take good naps this afternoon and don't hinder my workout time any. Perhaps we'll all take a family walk this evening before after dinner and bedtime.
